Game Clock

The app serves just as a traditional chess clock but with many more options. It is suitable for any board game such as Chess, Go, Shogi, or similar where you want to limit the time a player may spend on his move(s). Each player has a clock with his time allowance which is decremented while he/she is thinking about the next move. Stopping the clock automatically activates the clock of the opponent.

Many different time controlling schemes are implemented and include the following:

  • Chess with a time limit for the first, say 40 moves, and further time limits for the next specified number of moves or the rest of the game.
  • Byo Yomi, traditionally used for the game of Go.
  • Canadian Byo Yomi, a popular variant of Byo Yomi.
  • Progressive Canadian Byo Yomi with increasingly harsher time periods.
  • Fischer, a time control proposed by the former world chess champion, increments the time allowance before each move.
  • Bronstein, similar to Fischer but increments after each move.
  • Delay, for each move the activation of the clock is delayed by a certain time.
  • Hourglass, the time spent during a move is added to the time of the opponent.
  • Sudden Death, you lose immediately after spending your time allowance.

All the settings are highly configurable and may even be set individually for each player.

Also, you may set audible and/or visual warnings when your time is running out.
